Andela Honored With 2016 Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence
We’re excited to share that Andela has been selected by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry as the recipient of the 2016 Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE). Established in 1999, ACE recognizes U.S. companies that are best representing American values in their business practices worldwide.
ACE chose Andela because of our deep investment in our Lagos, Nigeria, headquarters and the people who work there. To replicate the startup atmospheres of the companies we partner with, we’ve set up our Lagos office to look — and operate — like any tech company you’d find in Silicon Valley or NYC. Andela developers enjoy perks like the latest MacBooks, catered meals, on-site accommodations, and a fiber-optic Internet connection that, frankly, puts the network in our New York office to shame.
Visitors to the office witness hundreds of energetic, passionate developers working on cool projects for clients around the world. We even have dedicated team spaces where Andela developers working for the same partner company can congregate and collaborate. We use key card access to ensure the facility is secure, employ robust security protocols around encryption, and have a redundant infrastructure. Our overall goal is to deliver a world-class experience for our developers and clients, which is why we’re excited to be recognized by the State Department for doing just that.
We’re honored to be included among this year’s winners — General Electric, McDonald’s Deutschland, Bureo, Interface, and Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde S.A.A. — as well as past honorees including The Coca-Cola Company, Intel, TOMS Shoes, and Procter & Gamble.
Andela will accept the award from Secretary Kerry at the annual ACE ceremony on January 5 at 10:30 a.m. EST. (You can join us virtually at http://video.state.gov/live/.) In the meantime, learn more about the award on the State Department website.
