The tools enabling Unlimint's remote collaboration

At Web Summit 2021 we had a quick chat about remote work flows with Nadia Ivanova, CMO of Unlimint, a FinTech company specializing in alternative payment solutions. She shared top tips and tools for how she manages and scales her remote teams.

Why collaborating remotely works for Unlimint

For Nadia, the core benefit of working remotely is that it gives Unlimint access to the best talent from around the world. Since Unlimint's offices have a wide geographical spread, the team was already working remotely for some time.

Unlimint's team members are able to mold their work environment to their own needs, which may vary depending on a person's role and lifestyle. But how does Nadia successfully manage and scale her remote team at Unlimint?

The right tools are an important pillar of remote work success

It's often a slippery slope when looking into what tools your remote team should use for collaboration. Unlimint makes full use of Slack, with channels to help people keep up with the latest business news, PR, and key activities. Planning tools are also critical to help support remote collaboration: They use Jira across the business and Nadia's team utilizes ClickUp, an all-in-one productivity app.

She finds it important to also use technology to support the human aspects of remote work. They use HRBamboo to know who's who in the organization and keep track of celebratory dates like birthdays. Workplace by Facebook provides a social platform where they can share funny moments and photos.

In Nadia's experience, the key to scaling Unlimint's remote work strategy is having a really strong recruitment team. Unlimint has a department of recruiters that work worldwide to help them hire at speed and inaugurate new team members into their way of working. With their help, the business grew from around 250 people in 2019 to over 400 in 2021.
