Andela Customers Named “Best in Business” by Inc.

Inc. magazine launched its first “Best in Business” awards to “celebrate the companies making an extraordinary impact in a tumultuous year.” Not surprisingly, several Andela partners are on the list--creating great products that help businesses and individuals.  Here are the businesses that Andela engineers are helping make a difference in the wake of the pandemic:

Homebase helps more than 100,000 small businesses with tools for scheduling, hiring, onboarding, compliance, and communications. As a popular source for small-business data, Homebase helped Americans -- including policymakers, economists, and journalists -- grasp the impact of Covid-19 on business and the economy. It also built a financial resources site for both businesses and workers, partnered with lenders to facilitate PPP loan applications, and offered a range of small-business resources, including support from certified HR professionals, symptom-screening tools, and a re-opening toolkit.

Omaze, which raises funds and awareness for causes around the world by offering the chance to win dream-come-true experiences and prizes, has changed the face of charitable giving with its celebrity- and experience-driven sweepstakes platform. When Covid-19 hit, Omaze was uniquely positioned to help charities efficiently bring in more dollars. The company vetted current partners and additional organizations to determine which of those were making the most meaningful and urgent impact and launched a direct donation landing page. To date, Omaze has helped raise over $1.2 million and counting for on-the-ground Covid-19 relief.

The Zebra compares prices from more than 100 car insurance companies to help consumers find the best rates. Calling itself as "the Kayak of insurance," aggregating auto insurance plans for car owners. The Mark Cuban-backed company helps U.S. consumers avoid overpaying an estimated $21 billion per year on car insurance. The impact on American car owners has been dramatic: The Zebra grew annual revenue close to 200 percent between 2018 and 2019, reaching nearly $37 million.
