Jeremy Johnson Represents Andela At The U.S.- Africa Business Forum

On Wednesday, global political and business leaders came together in New York City at the U.S.-Africa Business Forum to discuss the role of innovation and technology as a platform for entrepreneurial growth in Africa.

Co-hosted by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the U.S. Department of Commerce, the forum was attended by U.S. President Barack Obama and Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, among dozens of other international heads of state, who both delivered keynote addresses.

Andela co-founder and CEO Jeremy Johnson spoke on a panel on innovation and technology, alongside Dow Chemical CEO Andrew Liveris and Econet Wireless founder Strive Masiyiwa, moderated by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. The group discussed the ways that technology has already revolutionized traditional services, as well as what steps need to be taken to support the next generation of entrepreneurs and startups on the continent.

We’re honored to have been included in the roster of luminaries bridging the commercial interests of the U.S. and Africa. As Obama said on stage, “We need to invest more in Africa’s most precious resource — the brilliant and resourceful young people.” We couldn’t agree more!
